Cape Elizabeth Public Safety, in partnership with the Cumberland County Regional Communication Center, participates in the CodeRED emergency messaging system. CodeRed is a high speed mass notification system that delivers emergency messages to your telephone (mobile or landline). Through the use of geographical data (GPS), alerts are only issued to those within the affected area, which reduces unneeded notifications and allows for precise coordination during events.

Examples of alerts sent through the system are severe weather notifications, road closures, criminal activity, fires, evacuations, missing persons, or any other general Public Safety message requiring notification of residents within a certain area.

Participation in the CodeRed service is free and registration is simple. Just click the “CodeRed” icon: sign up for CodeRed and follow the sign-up instructions. For smartphone users, a mobile version of the service can be accessed via the CodeRed Mobile App and can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

The Cape Elizabeth Fire-Rescue Department encourages all residents, those working in Cape Elizabeth, and frequent visitors to sign-up for this valuable service. Should you require further information or assistance, please contact the Public Safety Clerk at 207-767-3323.
